Miguel Câncio Martins has fulfilled a dream. In July 2019, the renowned Portuguese architect opened his resort Quinta da Comperta in the village of Carvalhal near Comporta. Surrounded by green rice fields, pine trees and the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, the Lisbon-born architect - who spent his childhood in Comporta - created a boutique wellness resort from a former rice farm that is second to none. The spacious hideaway sets new standards in terms of sustainability (including solar panels and a water treatment plant), authenticity and luxury. The beautiful pool villas, townhouses, suites and rooms are perfect retreats and offer every comfort that discerning travellers expect today. A magical feel-good atmosphere welcomes gourmets in the "Mar dÀrrozal" restaurant. Here, chef João Sousa takes guests on a culinary journey through Portugal, which is repeatedly interrupted by a "visit" to local wineries. Another highlight is the ORYZA SPA with impressive cathedral ceilings, pool and treatment rooms. Miguel Câncio Martins has made a perfect debut as a hotelier.
