An enchanting retreat on the beach
The radiant white facade of the Hotel 1884 Norderney already shines from the ferry. After extensive renovation, the historic Wilhelminian-style villa on the western beach of the island shines in new splendor. It was built in 1884 and gave the luxurious house its name. Mareike Kleimann and Klaus Wanke have been warmly welcoming their guests since June 2023. The native islander and the Viennese invite you to check in at the foyer, which is affectionately called “chat” here. The small East Frisian oven, a historic kitchen cupboard, elegant parquet flooring made from Vosges oak and comfortable sofas make the heart of the hideaway a place where you immediately feel welcome. The elegant comfort rooms and suites have been individually furnished with great attention to detail. None is like the other, but they have one thing in common - the indescribable panorama with a view over the beach to the North Sea waves.
The day at the 1884 begins with a lovingly prepared breakfast, which is served on a tiered stand like in the days of noble grand hotels. And another very special highlight inspires in this beautiful retreat: Star chef Nelson Müller Restaurant "Müllers auf Norderney". His formula: the best products, classic, sometimes unconventional, but above all uncomplicated. From street food and snacks to steaks. From caviar to fresh fish and oysters. The Müllers stands for culinary moments that make you happy. Casual, unusual and definitely unforgettable.
What does it take to really relax after a day on the island? The spa in the basement offers gentle relaxation for body and soul. Guests can expect a Finnish sauna and a bio sauna, relaxation areas with loungers and a small outdoor area for fresh North Sea air after the sauna session.
