Completion of a lifelong dream

Since June 1, 2021, the Hotel Castel in the idyllic holiday resort of Dorf Tirol - high above the spa town of Merano - has shone in new splendor. After the major renovation, which has now been completed in several stages, the five-star domicile owned by the Dobitsch family presents itself in the elegant, fine luxury they have always wanted. And with that, a lifelong dream of host Evelyn Dobitsch, who runs the hotel together with her son Daniel and his wife Maria, came true.

“After the redesign of our 45 rooms and suites in recent years, almost all public areas were completely demolished and rebuilt for the last major renovation. Three of them have undergone a particularly big change: The spa, our star restaurant and the restaurant for house guests. Everything together offers immense added value for our discerning guests, ”says Evelyn Dobitsch. There's a lot to discover. The entire external architecture gives the buildings erected on the slope a simple and elegant appearance, which more than does justice to the high standard of the house as well as the special demands of hosts and guests. The restaurant experienced the greatest metamorphosis for the house guests, which now - equipped with a glass roof and glass facade - provides a feeling of being under the open sky in every season of the year. Further highlights: The generous buffet area with LIVE cooking station, the glazed wine cellar and the direct connection to the bar with a new terrace and lounge area, for a relaxed end to the evening. The gourmet restaurant run by exceptional chef Gerhard Wieser, which has been awarded with five toques and 19 points by Gault & Millau, has also been given a new look. The traditional Trenkerstube has become the Castel finedining with what is probably the most exclusive view of the city of Merano through a 15-meter-long glass facade, which can be largely opened in summer. With only 5 tables, an evening there is a real experience, just like the grandiose Alpine-Mediterranean cuisine.

There is also a lot of new things to marvel at in the Meranesse Spa. There the furnishing style has changed and offers a relaxed feel-good atmosphere. Different rooms for individual applications - two of them specially designed for couples - guarantee relaxing hours. The wellness area awaits the guests with a variety of sauna themes, including the panorama sauna with a dream view of Merano. Interpretations of the topic “water” - through experience showers, foot baths and a Kneipp basin - are both a contrast and a complement. The light-flooded relaxation room has been significantly enlarged, but its beautiful, round exterior shape has remained. "We cordially invite our guests to experience the Hotel Castel even more intensely," says host Daniel Dobitsch.
