COMO Cocoa Island

Maldives | South Malé Atoll Booking inquiry

Private island in the South Malé Atoll

Encircled by a powder-soft, pristine white sandy beach, the private island is located in the South Malé Atoll. Cocoa’s untouched coastline is fringed by wild sea grapes, hibiscus bushes and lush, green palm trees. With its two private coral reefs, the island ranks among the world’s best diving areas. Inspired by the traditional local dhoni boats, the architecture of the suites and villas incorporates a lot of untreated wood. The interiors radiate an air of contemporary elegance and, boasting every conceivable comfort, they cater to the needs of the most discerning traveller. Set on stilts over the waters of the lagoon the accommodations are accessed via wooden jetties. The COMO Shambhala Retreat is geared towards guests in search of a well-being experience at a deeper level, combining natural healing traditions from Asia with international therapeutic methods. The cuisine served in the restaurant Ufaa features a blend of European dishes and the best of Indian and Sri-Lankan traditions.

Our Recommendation

Cocoa Island has been the first hotel, which we have visited on the Maldives - this has been 1997. At that time, the owner of the island with its only 5 simple villas has been a German. The two fascinating house reefs still belongs to the most beautiful, we have ever seen, an amazing place for diving. Under the management of COMO, the resort presents itself with luxury, the villas are uniquely inspired by dhoni boats—the gently curving wooden vessels used by local fishermen.
