Maierà is located directly on the Mediterranean, surrounded by Italy's largest natural park, the Parco Nazionale del Pollino. Due to its exceptional location and architectural peculiarity, the picturesque village in Calabria has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Claudia Kuse was in Maierà for the first time in 2010 with her husband and son Konstantin. They told their friend Simona Ceccarelli about this unique area and the authentic, lovely villagers. The village also became a place of longing for Simona. They often spent happy holidays here with their families. In 2021, the women decided to awaken the Hotel La Pastorella from its slumber in Maierà. “The property was forgotten after the owner died. It was a matter close to our hearts to create a place for guests here again. This is how the idea matured and emerged,” says Claudia Kuse. With great commitment and great attention to detail, La Pastorella was extensively renovated and reopened in 2022. The result is a wonderfully small but extremely fine retreat for individualists. From the terrace you have a direct view of the sea glittering in the sunlight. The enchanting rooms and suites bear the names of Italian islands, and the breakfast spoils you with regional delicacies as well as home-baked bread and jams from your own fruit and vegetable garden. There are also themed evenings with regional culinary specialties from the region. Fantastic beaches can be reached on foot in just a few minutes.
Rooms
Hotel La Pastorella has five enchanting rooms and two stylish suites. All rooms are cosy and furnished with great attention to detail. High-quality box-spring beds from the French label Treca, fine fabrics, individual, partly antique furniture, wallpaper and natural materials all contribute to the sense of well-being.
The view from this double room (18 square metres, sleeps 2, bed type 180 cm) is of greenery. This room also has its own shower room.

Double room (18 square metres, 2 people, bed type 160 cm) offers a view of the mountains and an en-suite shower room.
The suite has a size of 25 square metres, can accommodate two people and has a balcony with a wonderful sea view, bed type 180 cm and a beautiful shower room.
These two double rooms (30 square metres, space for four guests, bed type: 2 x 160 cm) are located in their own undisturbed area and can be shared with family or friends. The shared bathroom is accessed via the private corridor.
The Capri suite (30 square metres, 2 people, bed type 180 cm) has two balconies and a private shower room. The marvellous view extends over the mountains to the Mediterranean Sea.
